Going Gluten-Free: Weeks 3 and 4

I finally finished my gluten-free month.  And while I have mostly kept gluten out of my diet, I've allowed a little in here and there. Honestly, I didn't notice anything dramatic, but overall I did feel pretty good.  But I think that was because I kept out most refined sugars and limited dairy as well.  Basically I plan to keep my diet as clean as possible, but not be super strict about it.

Art in the Park

Love, love our little park. Yes, the old ladies leave mounds of food out for the cats, which in turn pee everywhere. And sometimes the youths have beer parties at night and leave their cigarette butts and empty cans. But its a little green space that hosts awesome events. Like the art fair. We missed it last year because we were lounging on the white beaches of Boracay. I know, poor us. This year we spent time walking through all the booths, until it started raining. Luckily, vendors were prepared with plastic sheets.
One artist hung a huge tarp over the playground and painted away. That kept Toto's attention for awhile.
We picked up two pieces for Toto's big girl room. The theme of her room is things that fly. She picked out the first with The Shark's help.
And I picked out this one, which is actually an illustration from a children's book about a Jeepney that gets tired of the traffic so flies away. I wish I could do that sometimes.

Ringing in Chinese New Year

Salcedo Village is a happening place. Well, for the senior and family crowd at least. Last year Toto was only 5 months for Chinese New Year and had no clue what was going on during the parade. This year she was just old enough to be terrified. That's an exaggeration. She LOVED the drumming and does the drumming motion every time we go to the park now. Why they chose to have the parade in the market is beyond me, but again, most things here are. Nice to celebrate Asian holidays while we are in The Asia.

Excuse me, Chinese dragon coning through.
